Ortserga Titus Terhemba professionally known by his stage name Maxtee Jnr (formerly Maxtee) is a Nigerian music artist whose journey began with a deep-rooted passion for music from a young age. Born and raised in Benue State, Maxtee Jnr discovered his love for songwriting at the age of 15.
His passion for music blossomed further when he enrolled at Padopads Harmony Secondary School in Makurdi. It was during his time there that he actively engaged in the school’s Arts Club—a music-focused association—where he frequently performed and became known for learning and singing latest songs. The young artist’s commitment to mastering lyrics and delivering them with emotion made him a standout talent among his peers. Recognizing his son’s dedication, Maxtee Jnr’s late father, Mr. Joseph Ortserga, gifted him a small radio to encourage his musical pursuits, a gesture that further deepened his love for the art.
What made him take his music seriously was when he lost both of his parents in 2018. This devastating experience deeply affected him, especially as he felt abandoned—even by close family members. Out of that pain, he found purpose and motivation, which became one of the reasons he started pursuing music more seriously. That same year, he poured his emotions into a heartfelt song titled “Nobody”, a track that spoke directly to his grief and strength in solitude.
Maxtee Jnr officially began his music career in 2014 with the release of his debut studio track Rebirth, featuring Mika, Lil Mizzy and Lance Okpe. He followed it up with Riding in 2015, featuring MGp (now known as Amose) and a solo single SANC (Sinners Are Never Condemned).
By 2017, Maxtee Jnr released Yesu Ngu Kumen Akume, a track that reflected his lyrical maturity and evolving artistry. In 2018, he collaborated with Justin Evans on The Promise, before taking a brief break from the music scene.
In 2019, he returned stronger, dropping his first full studio album titled “Pains and Fame”, a 12-track project that spanned from 2019 to 2021 and featured standout tracks such as New Life, Iyawomi and Wuese. The success of the album marked a turning point in his career, showcasing his versatility and lyrical depth.
In 2022, Maxtee Jnr released another powerful body of work titled “Love is Blind” featuring 7 well-crafted songs. After another short hiatus, he made a triumphant comeback in 2025 with the release of The Valley featuring longtime collaborator Justin Evans.
Maxtee Jnr’s sound is inspired by a mix of international and African artists. His lyrical style and musical energy have been shaped by listening to legends like Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, J. Cole, Lecrae, KB, NF and Nasty C, alongside African icons like Wizkid. This diverse blend of influences is evident in the variety of styles he brings to each of his tracks.
