Francisca Mlumun Ordega (OON) Honoured by Benue State Government for Outstanding Achievement at WAFCON 2024.

In a remarkable display of appreciation and pride, the Government of Benue State, under the leadership of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has honoured Super Falcons star Francisca Mlumun Ordega for her exceptional performance and contribution to Nigeria’s victory at the recently concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

At a state-hosted ceremony in Makurdi, Ordega was recognised not only for her sporting prowess and accomplishments on the international stage, but also as a proud daughter of Benue whose success continues to inspire generations. In celebration of her achievements, the state government presented her with a ₦50 million cash gift, a fully furnished three-bedroom flat in the heart of Makurdi, and announced plans to name a street in her honour—a lasting tribute to her legacy.

Governor Alia, in his address, praised Ordega’s dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence, describing her as a worthy ambassador of Benue and Nigeria. He underscored the importance of recognizing heroes who bring pride to the state, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting sports development and empowering the youth.

Francisca Ordega, who holds the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), has had a distinguished football career, representing Nigeria in numerous international tournaments. Her contributions to the Super Falcons’ success at WAFCON 2024 have further cemented her status among the country’s football elite.

This gesture by the Benue State Government not only celebrates her sporting achievements but also reflects the administration’s dedication to acknowledging excellence and inspiring the younger generation.
